To show a 1:50,000-scale, full-color surficial geology and quaternary fault map of the Las Vegas Valley in Clark County, Nevada, with descriptions of 20 units. The geodatabase specifies feature datasets and feature classes, together with feature attributes, subtypes and domains, suitable for a variety of geologic maps. In addition to basic geology (lithology, contacts and faults, etc.), the map may include metamorphic overprints, cross sections, and explanatory legend-graphics such as correlation charts, used to supplement columnar legends.

This is a combination of compilation data from existing 24k maps, simplification and generalization to 50k, and new mapping produced by Geologists and Cartographers at the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology using field observations, and analysis of LiDAR data and aerial imagery. All features in the GeologicMap featuredataset are attributed in part with geodatabase domain values. All labels on the map are hand placed annotations. Layout was completed in ArcGIS. Database was produced and built in accordance with the USGS GeMS database schema.
